The Warrior

Wearing the uniform of a battlemage, Martel faces the most dangerous posting in the Empire: Legio X Astra, where all battlemages die within months of arrival.

Defending the Savena delta, the legion fights endless skirmishes against Khivan sharpshooters eager to claim a mage as their bounty. In addition, the legate is led by an ally of Duke Cheval, spelling further trouble. Martel’s only consolation is Eleanor, who has gone against her family’s wishes to become Martel’s protector.

Together, the pair faces a long campaign on the Khivan front, as the war enters its thirteenth year with no end in sight. With dangers everywhere, both outside of camp and inside, Martel must use all he has learned in Morcaster, whether spells, alchemy, or subterfuge, to survive.
